Spectral Oil and Gas is the first of a new generation of technology-based energy companies that apply modern exploration and development advancements to the older oil fields discovered before World War II.
Spectral's core technology is based upon nuclear research into the use of radioactive sources and advanced spectroscopy detectors that can identify the presence of hydrocarbons behind the pipe of cased and shut in wells. This advanced cased-hole logging was created over a decade of research and development and has achieved successful results on over fifty wells, producing over one million barrels of oil and six billion cubic feet of gas from dead wells.
Spectral's area of interest is the onshore Texas - Louisiana - Gulf of Mexico coast where hundreds of the nation's largest oil and gas fields were discovered from 1900-1950. These fields were primarily drained to fuel nation through a period of heavy economic growth along with two world wars. By the second half of this century, most of these huge fields had declining production with resulting thousands of shut-in wells.
Spectral's expertise is in logging these existing wells to find overlooked oil and gas sands, allowing for an inexpensive recompletion to reestablish oil and gas production.
